FAQ

Can I use this battery to start my car, truck, or motorcycle?

No. Please DO NOT use this battery as a starter battery for any land-based vehicle (cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, etc.). It is designed specifically for marine applications.

How do I know if this battery will start my fuel outboard motor?

Your outboard motor must meet two conditions:

  1. Required CCA: The motor's required Cold Cranking Amps (CCA) must be less than 650A (the battery's CCA rating).
  2. Alternator Output: If your motor has an alternator, its output current must be less than 80A (the battery's maximum charge current).

Note: This battery is not suitable for engines (like some older outboard motors) that use a charging coil instead of an alternator.

What should I do when I receive my new battery?

Your battery may arrive with a partial charge for shipping safety. Please fully charge the battery immediately using a LiFePO4-compatible battery charger before your first use.

A battery voltage lower than 11.5V will not be able to start your motor.

Are there special instructions for starting my motor?

Yes. To protect the battery and ensure a long life, please follow these steps:

  • Do not crank the engine for more than 3 seconds at a time.
  • If the engine does not start, wait 15 seconds before trying again.
  • If the engine fails to start after three attempts, stop and check your motor for other issues. Wait 5 minutes before attempting to start again.

What are the best installation tips for my boat?

  • Secure the Battery: You must securely fasten the battery in a battery box or mount. This prevents damage from the strong vibrations and movement common in marine environments.
  • Protect from Water: The LiTime Marine Starting batteries are rated IP67. However, to avoid potential issues, do not fully submerge the battery in bilge water. We recommend installing it in a waterproof battery container and/or in an elevated position.
  • Minimize Voltage Drop: Install the battery as close to your outboard motor as possible. Long cable runs can cause voltage loss (3-10%). If you experience a significant drop, your cables may be too long.

Can I connect the LiTime MARINE CRANKING battery in series or parallel?

No. For starting applications, you must not connect this battery in series or parallel. Use a single, appropriately sized battery for your motor.

Can I connect the LiTime DUAL-PURPOSE marine battery in series or parallel?

Yes, but the rules depend on your application.

1. For Starting & Deep Cycle Use (Starting an engine AND running electronics):

  • You can connect up to 4 identical batteries in PARALLEL ONLY.
  • This can create up to a 12V (12.8V) 560Ah battery system.
  • Series connection is NOT supported for starting.

2. For Energy Storage ONLY (Running electronics, NOT starting an engine):

  • You can connect up to 16 identical batteries.
  • Max Parallel: Up to 4 in parallel (e.g., 12V 560Ah).
  • Max Series: Up to 4 in series (e.g., 48V 140Ah).

IMPORTANT Connection Rules:  To connect batteries, they must meet these conditions:
They must be identical batteries (same capacity, same BMS).
They must be the same brand (LiTime).
They must be purchased at the same time (within one month).
