In contrast, lead-acid and AGM batteries typically offer only 300 to 500 life cycles before their capacity significantly declines. While the initial investment for a LiTime LiFePO4 battery may be higher, the long-term savings are substantial.
How do I know what size the LiTime LiFePO4 lithium battery I need?
It ultimately depends on your priorities. The LiTime LiFePO4 lithium battery offers roughly twice the usable capacity compared to lead-acid and AGM batteries. If your aim is to maximize usable battery time (amps), consider upgrading to a battery with the same or greater amp rating. For example, replacing a 100 amp battery with a LiTime 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery will provide about double the usable amps and half the weight.
If you're looking for a smaller, lighter, or more cost-effective option, you could replace the 100 amp battery with a LiTime 12V 50Ah LiFePO4 battery. This would offer similar usable amps (time), come at a lower cost, and weigh about one-sixth as much. Are LiTime LiFePO4 lithium batteries safe?
Yes, LiFePO4 is an inherently safe chemistry and is considered the most stable lithium battery type available. Can I use LiTime LiFePO4 lithium batteries as starting batteries?
No. LiTime LiFePO4 lithium batteries are not intended to be used as starting batteries but energy storage, please do not use them to start any devices.
Can I charge LiTime LiFePO4 lithium batteries with solar panels?
Yes, you can charge LiTime LiFePO4 lithium batteries using solar panels. Here are three reliable methods for charging:
Using Solar Panels
The LiTime 12V 50Ah battery can be fully charged in one day with 200W solar panels, assuming an effective sunshine duration of about 4.5 hours per day. However, it may take longer than a day to fully charge the battery with solar panels rated at 200W or more, as the duration and intensity of sunlight significantly affect charging efficiency.
Generator/Alternator
If your alternator or generator provides DC output, you'll need a DC-to-DC charger to connect the battery. For AC output, use a suitable battery charger as recommended.

Recommended Charging Current:10A (0.2C): The battery will be fully charged in about 5 hours, reaching 100% capacity. 25A (0.5C): The battery will be fully charged in around 2 hours, achieving approximately 97% capacity.

For charging a 12V battery, a charger with a voltage of 14.6V is recommended.

Can I charge LiTime LiFePO4 lithium batteries in cold weather (under freezing temperatures)?
LiFePO4 lithium batteries can be safely charged within a temperature range of 0℃ to 50℃ (32℉ to 122℉). The LiTime 12V 50Ah lithium battery does not have low-temperature charging protection, so it's advisable to charge it indoors during winter. For cold-weather usage, we recommend exploring LiTime's cold-weather batteries, which are equipped with low-temperature charging protection.
How do I store LiTime LiFePO4 lithium batteries?
It is recommended to store LiTime LiFePO4 batteries at 50% state of charge (SOC). If the batteries are stored for long periods, recharge the batteries at least every 3 months. Recommended storage environment: 10℃～35℃ (50℉～95℉），45%RH～75％RH
I purchased my second Li-time 50ah LIFEPO4 after using my other 50ah for a few months. I use them daily for lighting to supplement power for lighting to reduce the need for grid power for lighting. Used in my APC Smart UPS 1250
I bought two of these batteries for my UPS which takes two 12V lead acid 17Ah batteries.
Obviously they didn't fit inside, but on the other hand, for not much more money I'm getting 3X the capacity and hopefully a longer lifetime.
I happy to say that they worked great in my UPS.
I charged the batteries in my APC UPS and then tested them on four of my Vencon UBA5s in parallel to get a 24A load current.
My results:
Battery#1: 50.43 Ah (100.9% rated), Energy=629.9 Wh
Battery#2: 50.45 Ah (100.9% rated), Energy=630.4 Wh
The batteries exceeded their rated capacity by 0.9% which is good.
They fell slightly short of their rated energy, but that's OK as it could simply be due to the wires connecting them to my battery tester.
